What are green products and how do they help the environment?

All we hear all over the news is about how our “carbon footprint” is impacting on the environment and that we need to “GO GREEN.” So in response to this, we cut back on electricity, recycle and try and eat organic foods. Now comes in the question, well what are green products and if we use green products can we in turn be helping the environment?
